This is a copy of a letter I sent to Middlewich Guardian recently. Fiona Bruce (there are two of them!) is a friend and fellow Christian who represents East Cheshire as MP. She has taken a stand, representing a large body of her constituents against Gay marriage and the changes that are planned for the constitution of marriage. She consequently received many complaints from Atheists and the Secular section of society.
The letter then:
It is ironic that Fiona Bruce is accused of putting forward her personal views and beliefs and then people complain that their own personal views cannot be represented. Isn't it obvious that this modern society that we live in is all wrong? And has been since the days of Adam. Personal views are all relative aren't they, so how can each of us be satisfied and win the day - we are all different! Dont you think it is far better to have the creator, sustainer and redeemer for all mankind in ultimate authority - actually, He is anyway! His laws are clear and whether we like it or not we should seek, with all our might to obey them. It is not representing our personal views then, if we seek to obey Him, it is representing something outside, something much bigger and it's actually a person - the person of Jesus. The God of the Bible and the God of original law. Yes, this is my personal view, but only because He is in ultimate authority. Disobedience to him has brought us all what we have today - our rebellion against sin. And man will suffer the penalty, unless each of us turns to Him in repentence.
By the way - God's law says:Genesis 2: 24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
New Living Translation It says nothing about Adam and 'Steve' .
What does that Meer Cat say? - Si i i m ple s!.

Isaiah 55 v 11
So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
